Frequently Asked Questions

CREATING A PDF

We recommend using Adobe’s PDF Preset: High Quality Print. If your project requires bleed you’ll need to check the box to use Document Bleed Settings before creating a PDF.

Creating PDFs for commercial print is one of the best ways to submit files to your printer. Submitting a PDF eliminates the need for file collection, speeds up the turnaround time, and eliminates concerns about file compatibility. Once your digital files have been properly prepared and include all of the necessary information, the next step is to export the PDF.

SENDING US YOUR FILES

Web-based Upload

Contact your Account Executive or Customer Service for secure access to our FTP site. It’s perfect for sending us multiple files and files that are too large to email.

EXPORTING MULTIPAGE DOCUMENTS

Got a project with multiple pages?

When you create your final PDF for print you’ll want to make sure that the PDF is exported in separate pages and not spreads.

BLEED AND CROP MARKS

What do we want?

For most projects we need 1/16″ bleed if you have imagery that needs to run off the edge of your piece. Some types of projects require more, if you’re not sure please ask us!

Crop marks are not necessary. When you submit a file you can let us know your desired trim size and we’ll take it from there.

DATABASE SUBMISSION

What file type do we want?

When submitting your database to Lawton Printing Services, we prefer an Excel .csv file or compatible. Please do not include fields of data that are not needed for the mailing, specifically confidential information. Ideally, each address element should have its own field. For example, first name, last name, address 1, address 2, city, state, zip.

To protect the integrity and confidentiality of your data, we provide secure means to transfer your files. Please contact your sales representative or customer service representative for instructions.
